Baron & Baroness Honorees

About

Our Cattle Baron Ball honorees are comprised of community leaders competing to raise funds leading up to the event. These candidates serve as an extension of the American Cancer Society to raise funds and awareness to help end cancer as we know it, for everyone. Each person takes a leadership role in the American Cancer Society’s mission by committing to raise a minimum of $5,000 for Ascension Parish Cattle Baron’s. If you have additional questions please contact Katie Decker at 985-232-7458 or [email protected].

Watching my niece battle leukemia at just 3 years old changed my life forever. Today, she is 7 years old and a proud survivor, and her strength continues to inspire me every day. Supporting the American Cancer Society is my way of helping bring hope, research, and support to families facing cancer and helping create more survivor stories like hers.

Cancer has impacted my family in many ways. My father is a prostate cancer survivor, and I lost my mother-in-law to ovarian cancer. Through both survival and loss, I have seen the importance of research, support, and hope, and I am honored to support the American Cancer Society in helping families facing similar journeys.

I am fundraising in honor of my mother, who passed away from lung cancer three years ago. Losing her was heartbreaking, and supporting the American Cancer Society allows me to honor her memory while helping raise funds and awareness so other families can have more hope and more time with the people they love.

Supporting the American Cancer Society is personal to me because cancer has affected people close to my heart. My niece is a breast cancer survivor, and my neighbor is also a cancer survivor. My connection to the American Cancer Society comes through someone very close to my family — my wife’s beloved nanny, who is currently battling brain cancer and receiving hospice care. Watching her strength throughout this journey has inspired me to support families facing cancer and help raise funds for research, care, and hope.

Throughout my life, I have had family members, close friends, coworkers, and coworkers’ spouses battle cancer in its many forms. Some are still fighting, some have survived, and some gave everything they had. In every case, cancer has taken a toll on both the individual and their loved ones. I am excited to support the American Cancer Society in such a meaningful and fun way while helping raise awareness and funds that move us closer to groundbreaking treatments and one day a cure.
